Meaning of Iglesia ni Cristo Controversial Instagram Post “This Is War”
The Instagram account of Iglesia Ni Cristo Media Organization or INC Media News shocked the local social media when it posted a cryptic jab at the current administration.
Taken from a verse in Matthew 12:30 is the following post:
“This is war, and there is no neutral ground. If you’re not on my side, you’re the enemy; if you’re not helping, you’re making things worse.” – a translation from The Message (MSG)
But in NIV or New International Version the verse goes:
“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gathe with me scatters.”
The church goers of INC have been flocking the DOJ office at Padre Fauna to protest the alleged involvement of Sec. Leila de Lima in the case against the religious organization.
On August 28, the protesters gathered in EDSA which irked commuters. INC later said sorry but they will remain until their last day of protest on September 4.
Commenters on IG quickly rebuked the post quoting Romans 13:1 “hypocrites!” and others telling INC of misusing God’s message and taking the bible verse out of context.
Most netizens believe this is the group’s way of declaring their defiance to support the current administration.
De Lima is an ally of the Aquino administration. And netizens are saying this will affect the candidates of LP.
